Conservative Leadership Matters.

Conservative Leadership Matters. If you’re like me, you’ve been concerned about President Joe Biden’s executive gun control orders. It’s a reminder why conservative Mississippi leadership and state policy is crucial. This photo was taken April 15, 2016: Barack Obama was President and threatening to ban certain types of common ammunition by executive order. I was serving in the Legislature and drafted House Bill 786, passed it through the House, and the Senate led by then Lt. Gov. Reeves and Chairman Sean Tindell sent it to the Governor. On that day 5 years ago, Gov. Phil Bryant signed House Bill 786 into law, and section 5 provides as follows and remains Mississippi law today:
“No federal executive order, agency order, law not enrolled by the United States Congress and signed by the President of the United States, rule, regulation or administrative interpretation of a law or statute issued, enacted or promulgated after July 1, 2016, that violates the United States Constitution or the Mississippi Constitution of 1890 shall be enforced or ordered to be enforced by any official, agent or employee of this state or a political subdivision thereof.”
We will not bow to unconstitutional federal mandates. Effective Conservative Leadership mattered then, and it matters even more so today. #2AShallNotBeInfringed
