“Fake Meat” Update and Our #GenuineMS Response: I want to thank the many of you who expressed your great interest and concern regarding the “lab grown,” “fake meat” issue. I’ve been informed that “fake meat” could appear in all 50 states’ restaurants and grocery stores in 2019. Due to the many concerns of our Mississippi parents, consumers and farmers, last week I submitted these comments to the Food and Drug Administration and the United States Department of Agriculture. I’m leading on this issue to make sure your voice is heard very clearly on the issues of food safety, truth in labeling, and standards of identity. I encourage all Mississippians sharing my concerns to support our farmers and buy REAL meat: real beef, poultry, fish and pork.
